Typhoon Kabayan PAGASA Forecast August 3, 2 p.m.

At 11:00 a.m. today, Tropical Storm "KABAYAN" has maintained its strength as it moves in a West Northwest direction.

Tropical Storm "Kabayan" is estimated based on satellite and surface data at 1,030 km East Northeast of Basco, Batanes with coordinates 24.3°N, 132.4°E and maximum sustained winds of 165 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 200 kph.

According to Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), typhoon Kabayan is moving West Northwest at 11 kph.


WEATHER FORECAST:

Thursday morning: 840 km Northeast of Basco, Batanes

Friday morning: 670 km North Northeast of Basco, Batanes or 100 km South Southwest of Okinawa, Japan


PUBLIC STORM WARNING SIGNAL

No storm warning signal raised.


This weather disturbance is too far to directly affect any part of the country.

Expected to enhance the southwest monsoon over Luzon which may trigger flashfloods and landslides.

Estimated rainfall amount is from 15 - 30 mm per hour within the 700 km diameter of the typhoon.

The Low Pressure Area was estimated at 70 km Southwest of Sinait, Ilocos Sur.(17.2°N, 120.0°E).
