Long Island Swan
I'm Not an Expert on Swans, however I believe the pictures are of MUTE SWAN (Cygnus olor). The mute swan are the largest birds in New York and weigh around 25 pounds with a wingspan of 7 feet. They have an all-whitebody with an orange bill thats black at its base. A prominent black knob at the base of its bill. The male mute swan (cob), is larger in size with a more prominent knob on his forehead but is otherwise identical to the female (pen). The Young swans are called Cygnets.
Jayne's Hill Long Island highest point
Jayne's Hill is the highest point on Long Island around 401 feet above sea Level.
The hill is part of Sulfolk County's West Hills park and oddly enough less than a mile from commercial malls. This hill was Walt Whitmans favorite place. Walt Whitman was America's greatest poets.
When Walt Whitman was young, on a clear day he could see south to fire Island and North to Connecticut. much to my diaspointment I saw nothing but trees and this big granite rock.
People hike up this mountain along differnet paumonk paths, but on weekings the locals told me that its a hangout kids to drink.
