Every month, the Ann T. Hathaway blog remembers law enforcement officers who died in the line of duty the previous month. Once again,  we must count the costs of safety and security in human life.

Each of these deaths is untimely. Each loss affects the family of the fallen, their friends, their colleagues, and their communities. They affect us all.
