torn

A little frustrated and a little sad tonight. Same old same old. Guess I should learn. Hopefully I'll get it straightened out tomorrow...if not, I guess I have some things to figure out. :( I wish this would just work itself out.
At some point though it gets to the point where there are some things that almost can't be repaired. The damage is just kind of done. There are only so many times...

Olivia Wilde's Confidence Manifesto

From Cosmopolitan Magazine
April 2011

This was an interview with Olivia Wilde, but she wrote this part herself and I really liked it so I just decided to repost it. So if you ever have a boyfriend or husband who complains about why you buy shoes or spend so much time getting ready tell him to read this! Haha, but I actually really like that she says, it doesn't matter about the shoes, etc, because you are the same with or without them, but if they help remind you to be the best version of yourself then use them! I hope you guys all enjoy this! I can totally relate.
"On a recent glorious day in New York City, I was standing outside my apartment building feeling pretty fantastic when a 75-year-old lady with purple bifocals, a matching muumuu, Einstein's perm, and sensible white sneakers stopped me, grabbed my hand, and said in a Brooklyn accent only Gilda Radner could mimic perfectly, "Oh! Those heels! Your feet must be dying! Who are you wearing them for? Dress for you. don't worry about what anyone else thinks."
I guffawed like she was just the most adorable and hilarious stranger to ever offer advice. My 3-inch Sergio Rossi ankle booties are an undeniable win. But really, who was I wearing them for? I suppose I wear them because I believe myself incomplete, disproportionate, and squat with them. I've always been convinced that my legs were stunted somehow (my sister is 6 feet 2), and on a day when I need to feel my best, a few inches' boost from a pair of deadly stilettos is my way of correcting nature and fixing the injustice of my torso-to-femur ratio. But now I wondered if this attachment to the physical was somehow terribly unenlightened of me. Was I yanking the evolution of female sexual empowerment back to the age of foot binding?
I gave it some thought and replied to the woman, "They make me feel powerful."
We are at our sexiest when we feel the most confident. We are at our least attractive when we are sure of our inadequacies and practically cave in on ourself to conceal them. No matter how incredible your lover swears you look, there is no way you're getting hot and bothered when you feel fatter than the manatee they found in the Hudson River. We all handicap ourselves with insecurity, and it's up to us to reset the self-worth scale and alter the message we send out into the world.
Hollywood. There's nothing like the spotlight to bring out the quivering little insecure self you thought you ditched in high school. But you don't have to be an actress to endure negative attention. Thanks to the Internet, there now exist forums for the public to declare their locker-room judgements without the risk of getting busted. I've been declared too fat and too skinny on the same day from the same photo. "Ew. She is disgusting and fat. Can anyone say thunder thighs?!" And the next post: "Eat something, Skeletor. You're gross!"
It is pathetic to even have to read these things, but before you learn the hard way, it is nearly impossible not to check out what's scrawled about you on the bathroom walls. But if I let this nonsense creep into my psyche, I'll be ruined by it and therefor about as sexually empowered as a deflated blow-up doll.
So how do we remind ourselves of our fabulousness without letting our self-doubt or the criticism of other drag us down? Triggers. We wear heels. We get waxed. We do thing that make us attractive to ourself and, therefore, able to allow other to do the same. And they work- the girl who suggests skinny dipping after dinner is usually the one with the fresh bikini wax. Confidence is a state of mind, but sometimes we need to give ourselves permission to realize it.
Of course, the goal is to go beyond the physical, to find a way to make peace with out own inner high school mean girl for good. But on some days we need a little magic.
Laughing makes us happy. It's possible that the same fake-it-til-you-make-it philosophy goes for conjuring up confidence. There is nothing wrong with embracing the tools that allow us to get there - heels, bikini waxes, whatever - as long as we're aware of the fact that we are worth the same with or without these tools.
I think that woman on the street was an apparition, a projection of my subconscious, warning me of the danger of superficiality: She was right to make me question my masochist footwear, as they were painful enough for my to promptly kick them aside upon entering my apartment, but she missed the mark on my motive. I was wearing them for me. They were my confidence trigger as I left the house and headed out into the world, and if that's what it takes to remind myself to put the sass back in my strut and be the best version of me, then so be it.

Olivia Wilde

Chick Crush Day 9
Olivia Wilde

If you haven't seen the February issue of Women's Health, she's on the cover and has a great spread in it. She has such a cute body and a gorgeous, unique face. I love her in the show House, and have been happy to see her in more movies recently. I also think she looks great on the red carpet...she always has great dress picks. I posted a couple below.

Golden Globes 2011

Outfits of Golden Globes 2011
I just thought it would be fun to post about the Golden Globes because I love watching all the shows about outfits and etc. Plus I stalked Perez Hilton's blog to look at all of them. But I do have some different opinions than him. There was a lot of blush and nude colored dresses which I love right now. Green was another big color, which happens to be my favorite color! I also love how many sparkles and glitter this was this year! My fav! Anyway, here are some of the outfits from the night. Let me know what you think!

These first few are just some that I liked. My most favorite will come later.

Mila Kunis: Not my favorite dress ever, but I thought it was pretty on her, and I really liked the color on her.

Catherine Zeta Jones: Green again. I thought it was really pretty.
Angelina: I love the color on her. I'm not sure I love the shoulders, but overall I think it looks really good. (and I'm still Jen biased)
Anne Hathaway: I love this dress except for the shoulder pad thing going on, so that's why it didn't make my favorites. But I actually think she looks really pretty and I don't even like her that much.
Sandra Bullock: I love this dress. Her bangs are throwing my off a little, but she tried something new so hey I give her that.
Scarlett Johansson: to be honest I don't like her. And I think she kinda almost is wearing the same dress as Sandra Bullock, BUT I really like it except for the arms. I think maybe they shouldn't have been so loose. I don't know...thoughts?
Nicole Kidman: almost a little boring, but I sort of liked the simplicity.
Natalie Portman: little prego girl...so I think this dress is cute because of that. Otherwise it might be a little weird.
Leighton Meester: ahhh my love. I liked it. Almost victorian or something, with a little leg. I love the nude lace.
Megan Fox: Sort of boring for her I think, but I thought it was pretty.
Lea Michele: I'm not a fan of pink, but I think it was cute for her. My other two Glee girls made my favorites! So good night all around for the Glee stars!
Julianne Hough: I thought this was interesting, but it looked good on her and she looked really pretty. She put everything together well.

What were they thinking?!?
Some of these outfits I just don't quite understand. Of course you see weird things at every awards show, but some of these people usually have amazing dresses and I'm just really disappointed. Then there are just the terrible ones.

Julianne Moore: This one isn't the worst, but I feel like she just came back from India or something. Plus with all the green going on this year, she would have looked so good in green.
Jennifer Love : The dress would be pretty if she was getting married. Plus I feel like her hair looks so messy. At least put it up in a pretty, elegant updo or something if you're going to wear a dress like that. .
Julia Styles: I just don't like this. The actual dress isn't that bad, but I think it makes her look bigger than she is and I don't think she looks good all around. Right now I'm not so glad that people always tell me I look like her.
January Jones: could have been pretty maybe if she didn't leave so much off the top.
O Heidi....I'm just disappointed...usually you're one of my favorites :( You couldn't have found something better than that?
Christina : I can see what she was going for, but in my opinion it didn't work. I usually love the lace over nude look. I actually like the dress, but it's just not working on her. I also think her hair would have looked cute with curls or up maybe?
Gabby Sidible : WOW...purple leopard? I think compared to what she wore last year when she won for Precious, this is a complete failure. Ugh.
Helena Bonham Carter: By far the worst thing ever. That's all I have to say. Her shoes don't even match.
Favorites!
These are my very favorites from the night. LOVE THEM!

Emma Stone: K some people are saying she looks orange all over, which I guess she could have maybe skipped the spray tan, HOWEVER, I love the plain look. I don't know why, but I'm just dying over it. I love love her hair blonde too. So simple.
Carrie Underwood: She always looks good I think. Classy. Plus I love glitter dresses!
Amber Riley: She looks so good. I think she picked a great dress. Glitter again! My first Glee girl in the favorites!
Dianna Agron: And my other Glee girl! Think she looks amazing too! Simple again, but really elegant. I love it.
Eva Longoria: Perez complained that she was in just another black dress. Umm I love that shape of it. I think she looks great! One of my favorites for sure.
Olivia Wilde: I can't decide if this one or the next one is my favorite. Yeah she looks like maybe she's going to prom or something, but she looks amazing, and I LOVE her dress. It's gorgeous.
Sarah Hyland: Ok I didn't even know who this was. I guess she's on Modern Family and she's only 20? I LOVE LOVE her dress. I would steal it from her any day. I think this is probably my favorite one of the night. I love that it's still simple, but the top has the lace detail. I think her hair is cute and goes well with the dress. And of course, love the nude color!
